Toy Story 4 – What we know so far

12 June 2019

Toy Story 4 is the latest Disney/Pixar movie of the saga coming out on June 21st 2019. The fans have all been waiting intrepidly for this instalment of the series as it’s set to be the best as of yet!

The film keeps the story going from Toy Story 3, where Sheriff Woody ( voiced by Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear ( voiced by Tim Allen), among their other toy friends, have found new appreciation after being given by Andy Davis to Bonnie Anderson. They are introduced to Forky ( voiced by Tony Hale), a spork that has been made into a toy, and they soon embark on an unforgettable adventure alongside old and new friends. The film will also feature some cast members from the older movies, including Annie Potts (who we haven’t seen since Toy Story 2 0 and Don Rickles in a posthumous performance as Mr. Potato Head.  We also have many new additions to the cast, including Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Keanu Reeves, and Christina Hendricks.

I think it is safe to say, that it is universal acclaim for the latest Toy Story film.

Here’s some reactions from The Mirror:

Rob Keyes of Screenrant tweeted: “Toy Story 4 is super satisfying, and features some of the funniest and most emotional moments in the franchise. It leans into new characters quite a bit and will surprise you by the end. And yes, there are some great moments during the credits (none at end though)”

Erik Davis of Fandango tweeted: #ToyStory4 is another fantastic entry in the series & the one installment that feels most like an adventure movie. With themes of hard goodbyes, second chances & finding your way home, it’s packed w/ big belly laughs, but I also cried harder here than I have for any of the others

James Viscardi of CBS Interactive wrote on Twitter: “#ToyStory4 goes to infinity and beyond. It tugs at the heartstrings right from the get go and doesn’t stop. The new characters fit right in and all your old favorites get time to shine.”

Rachel Paige tweeted: “For those worried about #ToyStory4, don’t be! The movie is magic and delightful. It will also wreck your emotions just as much as the other three, so that’s something to look forward to!”

Finally, Zach Johnson tweeted: “Just saw #ToyStory4…and it’s my favorite in the franchise. You’ll laugh as much as you’ll cry. You’ll feel like a kid one minute and an adult the next. Can’t wait to take my friends to see it.”

Here’s also what Metro has to say about Tom Hank’s performance:

The voice behind Woody, Tom Hanks, says his final scenes in Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 4 are ‘pretty profound’. Hanks, who has voiced cowboy doll Woody since the first Toy Story film in 1995, has admitted he couldn’t face anyone else while he was recording his final moments of the popular animation. It has been over 20 years since the 62-year-old actor initially played Woody in Pixar’s first ever feature-length film. Now he has revealed that even though he tried to avoid any ‘self consciousness’ while recording his final parts of the fourth Toy Story film, in the end he had to turn away from everyone in the room, look at the wall, and try to ignore the momentous nature of the moment. Hanks’ voice will feature in the fourth film of the Toy Story saga alongside other original cast members, Tim Allen, who voices Buzz Lightyear and Annie Potts who voices Bo Peep. Famous names Keanu Reeves, Mel Brooks, Timothy Dalton, and Christina Hendricks will also voice different characters in the film, which will be released in the UK on 21 June. Speaking at a press conference in Florida, Hanks said: ‘I didn’t want to have any self-consciousness for what I knew was going to be the … last few hours I was spending with the movie. ‘When it came to pass, I felt as though I was on the other side of the river waving to everybody I had left back in the old country. It was pretty profound.’

In conclusion, I really think that this is going to be such a great movie and I am looking forward to seeing it when it comes out later this month! Are you going to watch it as well?
